Eurofins WEJ Contaminants is hosting four special areas of expertise for the testing of residues and contaminants, complemented by extensive industry competence particularly in the areas of flavours, spices, food ingredients, agricultural raw materials, animal food and feed.
Fast reliable results, individual consulting and the legal assessment of the results by our specialised experts contribute essentially to safeguarding the quality of your products. Our analytical expertise in residues and contaminants reaches back to 1957. Today, we annually analyse about 250.000 food and feed samples from more than 70 countries for residues and contaminants.
Our high level of automation and latest state-of-the-art methods safeguard the quality of your food and feed products.
In addition to our accreditation according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018, we are designated as an official laboratory according to Article 37 (1) Regulation (EU) 2017/625 and hold further approvals for specific analyses ad industrial sectors. Active participation in scientific working groups and our own R&D team ensure that Eurofins WEJ Contaminants is always at the forefront when new substances come into focus.

Our analytical expertise reaches across all industries and includes raw food and finished products along with a wide range of analytically complex food and feed products such as additives and ingredients, premixes for dietary supplements and infant food as well as feed products and their premixes.
Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites of moulds, which already have toxic effects on vertebrates in the smallest quantities. Depending on specific substances and concentration, they are cancerogenic, mutagenic, teratogenic and immunosuppressive. We offer the examination of a large number of mycotoxins, plant toxins and biotoxins in a great variety of food and feed.
Organic contaminants are undesirable substances of potential health concern that can be found at trace levels in food. They may enter food products at various stages of production, processing, transportation or storage or can be the result of environmental contamination. Whether environmental contaminants, process contaminants, migration residues or other contaminants – we offer you a comprehensive range of services.
Arsenic and the heavy metals lead, cadmium and mercury are apparant in all parts of the environment. They find their way into vegetable food through intake from the soil or water, or atmospheric sediments and even further into animal food. We offer the examination of various metals and trace elements in a great variety of food and feed. Additionally, the analysis of radioactivity in food samples, such as the radionuclide caesium-137, is part of the portfolio.
The EU Commission has established various restrictions on the application of veterinary drugs, ranging from zero tolerance to restrictions on specific animal species and fields of insertion up to tolerable limit values. We offer the examination of numerous veterinary drug residues in a great variety of food and feed. Additionally, we offer advice on sampling and finding the most reasonable scope of analyses.
